The necessity of recognizing problems during production process and after-sales service in automotive industry of Iran

A member of Industries and Mines Commission of Parliament said: “Recognizing the problems of production process and after-sales service in automotive industry in Iran is a need.”

According to the PersianKhodro report, Mohammad Hossein Farhangi pointed out that Iran's auto industry is far from the ideals in this area and reiterated: “The mechanisms of automobile manufacturing in Iran should be reconsidered.”

He pointed to the role of price and quality as the main factors in creating competitive products in the automotive industry of Iran and stated: “Undoubtedly, reducing production costs and accordingly the price of the car along with increasing the quality are the two important factors that can make our automotive industry competitive.”

Farhangi emphasized that the customers are looking for a low price and high quality products and said: “Unfortunately, these two factors are not in the plan of our domestic automakers seriously. Therefore, the current situation does not cause any interest in domestic and foreign customers to purchase our vehicles.”

He pointed to the effect of high tariffs on auto imports on our current state of auto industry and stated: “High tariffs for imports made the process of the development of Iran’s auto industry hard and difficult. While supplying products in the competitive market can effectively lead us to the development of the automotive industry.”

The representative of Tabriz, Azar Shahr and Osku stressed that the quality and price of products should be on the agenda of the government and automakers and added: “This is one of the main tasks of manufacturers and the regulatory governments, such as the Ministry of Industry and Mine, to put these two subjects on their agenda seriously in order to avoid imposing any unnecessary costs for the domestic consumer.”

Farhangi pointed out that we should make some fundamental changes in the area of sales and after-sales service and added: “The current technology and mechanisms in this field needs revision and fundamental changes.”

He said: “An important part of the cost for automakers is the cost of services during guaranty time and they take a large share of that from customers.”

He said that any wrong diagnosis in correcting the defects of the vehicle imposes a cost to the customer.

A member of Industries and Mines Commission of Parliament asked a question and said: “Why should we see a large part of car repairs during their guaranty period? The design process and production of the vehicles must be in a way that we do not see even a single case referring to a repair shop during the guaranty period.”

He referred to the 4th Iran Automotive Industry International Conference which is going to be held on 12-13 February 2017 with focusing on sales and after-sales services and said: “If we pay attention professionally and scientifically to the subject of sales and after-sales service in this conference, certainly we will see good results in our automobile industry. But if holding such conferences just leads us to make some theories without any practical results, it will have no good results for the country, especially in the automotive industry of Iran.”

At the end he noted: “We expect that the 4th Iran Automotive Industry International Conference with the focus on sales and after-sales services is going to be a big change for us in the fields of quality of products and services and also customer satisfaction.”
